Who Are You Kidding
Trying to maintain a semblance of a clean and Godly way of life, we tend to compare by looking on the surface instead of the actual character from inside. What a religious spirit will do to a person starts in our own selfish pride. Man has natural tendencies to self promote because of works or status. When we start falling into deception of who is the fairest of them all, we walk away from the mirror and immediately forget whose we are.
Just because we don’t murder our brother, fornicate, steal and destroy or covet what is not ours, can give the false emotion that we have arrived to some level of being untouchable. This will bring an arrogance and a separation from not only others who need you, but from God. You can actually push your own agenda to the forefront and God will let you do it. We can work ourselves into being big in our own eyes and before you know it all that is reflected in the mirror looks nothing like Jesus or Love. He will turn us over to the lust of our own flesh, if that is what we want. Before you know it, the desire to reach and help others that are lowly in heart becomes less important. Almost like if getting your hands dirty will give us an allergic reaction. A religious spirit will drive you into the drivers seat of pride, and that is when honor and prayer become silent in our personal life.
Studying the character of our master Jesus always brings me back to His feet. When I ponder just at His feet and look at the scars and rough skin, I see all the stuff He had to step in and cut His feet on just to get to me. The persistence He went through, the patience He gave me, forgiveness He poured over me. How can I not be humbled to be called His friend. How could I do anything in this life without acknowledging the love He has for me. How can I not reach out to my brothers and sisters, no matter the cost. To share the love of my Jesus is the Gospel of the Kingdom.
